Wonderful history of Quebec and beyond!

Sept 2024

Michel was so knowledgeable. He has a vast repertoire of Canadian and American history. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it.

Fantastic QC History Tour with Michel - Above & Beyond!

Sept 2024 • Friends

We had a great time on our walking tour with Michel Sirois! I am a travel agent and was leading a group of ladies on a New England/Canada cruise that ended in Quebec City, and this walking tour seemed like a perfect way to get an overview of the Old Town. Michel was kind, patient and gave us great history as we did the tour. He even took some of our group who wanted to down to the lower town on his way back to the ferry…

Excellent personalized tour, rich historical experience

Aug 2024 • Couples

Michel is a wonderful tour guide and teacher. He brings many old maps and primary source materials to help illuminate the historical narrative. He has a fascinating family history reaching back 9 generations that also bring the history of Quebec to life. Michel was very responsive to our interests and tailored the tour to our tastes. Wonderful way to experience the city!

Absolutely EXCELLENT in-depth tour!

Jul 2024 • Couples

One of the very best tours we have ever taken. Our guide, Michel, was superb — he combines his enthusiasm for the history of Quebec City and French Canada with a great depth of knowledge and understanding. Especially impressive was his occasional inclusion of stories from his own family’s nine generations of history here. Plus, he was happy to tailor the tour to our group’s particular interests. Highest recommendation!

So Much History in Such a Short Time

Dec 2023 • Couples

On an extremely frigid but brilliantly sunny day in early December, Michel was our guide for a Quebec City walking tour. We hardly noticed the cold though as he gave us so much to see and learn. What a fascinating city and Michel made the past come to life with his deep knowledge for the area and a passion for history. Thanks Michel and we hope the 250 Yr Boston Tea Party Anniversary reenactment went according to plan!

THE STORY OF FRENCH AMERICA

Origins of the French-speaking communities of Québec, Acadia, Louisiana and New England

Lafayette, Louisiana; Port Royal, South Carolina; Cœur d’Alene, Idaho; Des Moines, Iowa; Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; Eau Claire, Minnesota; Prairie du Rocher, Illinois…

Why are so many place names in the United States of French origin?

The answer is straightforward: 75% of present-day continental U.S. was, until the 1760s, made up of French territories that were part of New France (Nouvelle-France) with Québec City as its capital.

Our tour introduces numerous local and cross-cutting global themes as we visit the most noteworthy sights in Old Québec.
